This year’s Copper Harbor Trails Festival drew over 500 youth and adult racers from all around the country. It was a beautiful sunny weekend and fun was had by all.

In the “short” race (17mile), Dan Henderson had an impressive ride, with a blistering average of 13.7mph. He claimed the overall win, beating Parker McColl by 2 1/2 minutes! Oskar Karinen unfortunately had a flat tire.

For the women, Jennifer Barden and Andrea Matter had a sprint finish, going 1-2.

Erin Norton, 3rd in age

Christina Smigowski, 6th in age

Lianna Miller, 3rd in age

In the 29-mile race, there was a 4-way sprint to the finish by professional riders Chris Peariso, Darrin Braun, Brian Matter, and Tyler Gauthier, with Matter and Gauthier tangling up their bikes seconds from the finish line. Peariso hung on for the win with Braun 3 seconds back. Matter was back on the bike first, finishing third, with Gauthier close behind. Local 16-year-old rider and CCS mechanic Pete Karinen had a huge day, riding to a 6th overall finish behind the pros! Way to go Pete!

For the women, Cooper Dendel took the win.
