National Bike to Work Week!
May 15 @ 7:00 am – May 18 @ 8:00 pm

It could be a snowy or a sunny bike to work week; either way, there are plenty of bikers and new bikers who will be taking to the pedals and pushing their way to work! Stay tuned for more details.

Here are a few of the events for the week:

Monday

  • Ride your bike to work, school, or on an errand.

Tuesday

  • Repeat Monday’s activity!
  • BIKE Initiative Keweenaw monthly meeting ( email info@bikeinitiativekeweenaw.org or check back here for more details.)
  • Group ride with the Red Jacket Cycling Club (info also forthcoming)

Wednesday

  • National Ride of Silence (http://www.rideofsilence.org/)
  • Cross Country Sports Group Ride!  6:30pm location TBD

Thursday

  • Houghton MI Bike Committee meeting (7:30am-8:30am at City of Houghton City Center, 616 Shelden Ave, Houghton, MI 49931, USA)

Friday

  • National Bike to Work Day!
    • Multiple aid stations, details and map forthcoming!

Saturday – The rest of your life

  • Look for group rides, make your own group ride with friends, and park your bike within sight of your front door to remind yourself to take advantage of the beautiful place you live in and experience it with your own two wheels!
    • Cross Country Sports hosts group rides on Wednesdays at 6:30pm. Stop in the shop and meet a new biking buddy too. Get out there, do some good for your health, and have fun 🙂

Ride the Keweenaw Weekend

A family-friendly event weekend featuring all the great riding at 5 trail systems across the Keweenaw Region. Join in group rides, race enduro, and hang out for music, great food, and Art Bike At the Harbor. It’s all about having fun on and off your bike with friends and new friends. The 2017 Ride the Keweenaw will be connected to the new Portage Health Foundation‘s Experience the Keweenaw event that will give you even more opportunities to play and explore the region over Memorial Weekend. Copper Harbor Big Boy Clinic

This year’s details are yet to be announced, but the review from last year has seasoned and first time riders planning on returning in order to hone their current skills and add to the repertoire. It is a weekend of fun and learning.

Canal Run!

Welcome back to the classic Canal Run – If you’re considering signing up, do it! If you haven’t yet considered it, do it! This is an enjoyable atmosphere and signing up for a run or 5k walk is a great way to motivate yourself to commit to healthy habits! Check out the full details for the Canal Run on their web page. There is always a need for volunteers as well!

Ladies’ Weekend Bike Clinic -Copper Harbor Trails Club

Improve your riding, meet new people and have a weekend of fun on the world class trails in Copper Harbor. We will once again be part of the Liv Ladies Allride MTB Clinic Series with Lindsey Richter (Voreis) for 2017! Additional coaches to be announced.

Event dates for 2017 are July 28th, 29th, & 30th.

Who should attend? Any woman that wants to improve their mountain bike skills in a supportive and fun environment. Yes, that means YOU! Ladies of all skill levels will be there.

THE 2016 EVENT REACHED CAPACITY IN UNDER 15 MINUTES! Registration for the 2017 event will open on March 1 at 7pm eastern, 6pm central. Have your computer ready to grab one of the limited spots.

Fee for the weekend of events is $245 which includes 2.5 days of skills, drills, and on the trail learning; shuttles; lunches on saturday and sunday; coffee and sweets on Sunday morning; evening education sessions on friday and social on saturday; commemorative tshirt; swag toss; and priceless memories.

Cancellation policy: Full refund minus $50 administrative fee until July 10th. After July 10th – No refunds but we will allow transfers of registration up to 5 days prior to event. Available spots will be filled in order from the waiting list.
