We’ve had a great winter for snow, and a great winter for snow sports!
This has been a winter to remind us all of what living in the Keweenaw is all about: lots of fresh snowfall; excellent skiing conditions for months on end; endless opportunities for scenic back country exploring on skis, snowshoes, or something in between ( looking at you Alti Hoks); excellent alpine conditions with plenty of powder days; and snow banks you have to pull halfway into the lane to see around. Now it’s the end of March, and the snow season starts to seem like it’s dragging on. Most of us are looking forward to our epic Summer season and dreading the “shoulder season melt”. Some of us never want the snow to end! We should all count ourselves fortunate though, for our amazing Winters, glorious all-to-short Summers, and beautiful Autumns. And be happy about the Spring too! It’s the time for everything to renew so we can have three seasons packed with fun all over again. Besides, if it weren’t for the shoulder season, when would we go on vacation?
